Jeez, everybody is throwing there name in the Fedor Hat. In an interview with IGN on 11/28/07 Bas reveals that he started training a little 2 weeks ago, but says it is for his Bas Rutten workout. Then at the very end he throws out a little:

IGN: If you could come back for one fight tomorrow, who would it be against
and where?
Bas: Whoever they want to put against me.
IGN: Fedor?
Bas: Maybe. Maybe I’ll drop him! I’m at 205, so I’d be at that weight
already, and it would just be like the Fedor-Matt Lindland deal. He would be the
biggest test, and that would be what I’d want. As long as I leave it in the cage
or the ring, I’m happy with it.

I know Bas talks alot off the cuff, but is there any realism to this match up? With all the older guys making names for them selves maybe he is re-evaluating his 2006 retiring from the sport. Dan Severn is still competing at 53 and Couture is 44. So why not? He looks to be in good shape with only major problems in his knees. In a recent interview with Sam Caplan, M-1’s Vadim Finkelstein (Fedors Org) said that Fedor’s New Years eve opponent is not in stone yet and as he says, “Hong Man Choi is most likely to be Fedor’s opponent for New Year’s. There are other candidates, which we are not revealing at this time.”
