Pat Miletich is doing a seminar in none other that the MFS Elite gym in Houston. He will be doing four hours on friday night and another four saturday morning. Hopefully I will be lucky enough to attend this. Im feeling pretty lucky these days since I got to attend a Royce Gracie Seminar just a couple of weeks ago. On a roll.

Jeez, everybody is throwing there name in theFedor Hat. In an interview with IGN on 11/28/07 Bas reveals that he started training a little 2 weeks ago, but says it is for his BasRutten workout. Then at the very end he throws out a little:
IGN: If you could come back for one fight tomorrow, who would it be against
and where? Bas: Whoever they want to put against me. IGN: Fedor? Bas: Maybe. Maybe I’ll drop him! I’m at 205, so I’d be at that weight
already, and it would just be like the Fedor-Matt Lindland deal. He would be the
biggest test, and that would be what I’d want. As long as I leave it in the cage
or the ring, I’m happy with it.
I know Bas talks alot off the cuff, but is there any realism to this match up? With all the older guys making names for them selves maybe he is re-evaluating his 2006 retiring from the sport. Dan Severn is still competing at 53 and Couture is 44. So why not? He looks to be in good shape with only major problems in his knees. In a recent interview with Sam Caplan, M-1’s VadimFinkelstein (Fedors Org) said that Fedor’s New Years eve opponent is not in stone yet and as he says, “Hong Man Choi is most likely to be Fedor’s opponent for New Year’s. There are other candidates, which we are not revealing at this time.”
There is all kinds of MMA talent in movies that are coming out these days so I wanted to make a list with a little about them and when they may be done. Please make a comment if you have anything to add or any insider info on the movie.
Owned - Jason Miller, Dean Lister and Cung Lee (Don Frye added as appearance guy for auditions)
“Owned is an exciting sci-fi action thriller set in the future which is more than an MMA movie. It is a mix of ‘Die Hard,’ ‘The Matrix,’ and ‘A History of Violence.”
“Kamandag is a tale of a half-human, half-snake creature who is forced to live in the mortal world because of the conflict he brings in his birthplace. With his snake-like powers, he becomes a sort of hero in his town and the people begin calling him Kamandag.”
Redbelt - This one is completed per the movie link and scheduled for release in 2008. IT has Jean Jacques Machado, John Machado and Randy Couture
“A fateful event leads to a job in the film business for top mixed-martial arts instructor Mike Terry (Ejiofor). Though his refuses to participate in prize bouts, circumstances conspire to force him to consider entering such a competition.”
The Scorpion King: Rise of the Akkadian - Randy Couture
“The Scorpion King: Rise of the Akkadian is a prequel to the 2002 film The Scorpion King. Filming for the movie is expected to begin on October 1, 2007.”
“In “Weapon,” a lonely U.S. border patrol agent (Thiessen) apprehends a genetically engineered super-soldier (Franklin) and experiences the ride of her life when the soldier’s creator (Greenwood) relentlessly hunts them down.”
The public has been highly anticipating Fedors next fight and it was said that he may be able to fight on New Years like he had for so many years for the Japanese fans. Than they said he couldnt, but now he can. It seems that M-1 the new MMA organization is going to work with former PRIDE peeps to put this new years eve show on. Is M-1 an orginzation or just a talent pool agency? Whatever at least Fedor is fighting even if it is Hong Man Choi that is 1-0 in MMA.
Then as of late Serra got his back hurt recently in training. So this with the UFC 79 only weeks aways has put Dana in a pickle to have a good event. Matt disclosed in his BLOG that he got to choose his opponent once Serra backed out. He choose George St. Pierre. Pierre accepted and will train for a few weeks to get back in fighting shape. I hope Pierre gives himself what he needs to prepare. Both of these fighters really want this third fight to determine who is better after each them have gained wins off each other, this being the third fight.
I was just reading something at MMA Torch that made me realize Dan Severn is still competing at age 53. Sure he is hitting some of the Smaller shows but he is still winning almost all of them. With alot of the old time dudes losing and losing badly it is nice to see one of the old schoolers still hitting it hard. At age 53 he is still competing in MMA and as of late as much as 8 times in 2007. Move over Randy Couture Dan Severn is my new Hero. He along iwth a select group of guys was inducted into the UFC hall of fame. In big sports like the NFL you have to retire for five years to be nominated, but in MMA you can still keep fighting even if your 53.
Mayhem Miller has also been cast in a the Sci-Fi thriller along with reported earlier Dean Lister. Miller will be playing a villian. He is pretty theatrical already so I think Miller by far will have the most to give in this production. I am still not sure how a movie like this will incorporate MMA fighters in a Sci-Fi, but the more the merrier.
Babalu has been a free agent after the UFC released him from his contract. Recently he signed with StrikeForce and XCESS Fighting. In this video Mark Kerr discusses his career uprising and the strategy to getting back on top. Babalu also describes his new free reign over the MMA world since either of the organization he is currently with are holding him. I really believe that this guy wants to fight alot more than the UFC typically allows fighters to fight. The free agent MMA market is probally better suited for some MMA fighters such as Babalu and other guys like Nick Diaz. Guys that just want to fight and fight the best without all the politics.
This video is a good interview. There is also a quick TapouT cameo.
TUF Reality star Josh Haynes will be fighting in the main event at an XFC event in San Antonio, Tejas. This guy has fallen off the grid after losing his last three UFC fights. I am sure he will bring it like he always does in his fights with relentless fury.
The last I heard from the Haynes media was how he was in a Celebrity Bull Riding show. It seems that Ty Murray and him became friends on the show because the Xtreme blogshows a visit to the Couture gym. There will also be a professionalMMA women’s fight on the card that night as well, but something tells me its not the girl on the poster.
