Pretty cool since this is the first big MMA venue to come to Houston. the tickets were cheap, but so was the crowd. Good matchups between the teams Tokyo Sabres vs. Tucson Scorpions and the L.A. Anacondas vs. Quad Cities Silverbacks.

Antonio McKee def. Gabe Rivas via TKO at 3:20 of round 2

McKee comes it in great athlectic shape and pretty much owned the pace. The only reason he could not finish this fight in the first round would be from lack of experience. I know even the best guys get hurt in fights but Rivas should not haven been fighting especially a guy as athlectic as McKee. Rivas’s knee was hurting when round one ended and it didnt get any better and this one pretty much ended with an injury, but the Ref called a TKO.

Vladimir Matyushenko def. Dwayne Compton via armbar at 1:47 of round 1

Vladimr is one of the best in the IFL and smoked this dude with all the control and technique. It was hard to know another guy was in the ring.

Chad Griggs def. John Marsh via referee stoppage (TKO strikes) at 2:32 of round 3

Good fight back and forth. Good technique used by both guys, but ended with Griggs on the better cardio and secure a rain of punches.

Savant Young def. Ed West via unanimous decision

Good fight. West threw alot of kicks and Young threw a bunch of strikes. Good exchanges but a little ground stalling that created a little booing and standing up by ref.

Matt Ver Halen def. Masaaki Izena via unanimous decision.Tokyo Sabres win 3-2

Same this as the Young fight, takedowns and strikes

Ben Rothwell def. Matt Thompson via TKO at 1:47 of round 2

I think Thompson was an alternate or something. Thompson did ok against Rothwell, but he kind of punched himself out and got caught by a good right and Rothwell finished him off.

Jay Hieron def. Victor Moreno via rear naked choke at 1:55 of round 1

It was good to see the Hieron of old come in and own the fighter like he did Moreno with punches, takedown and submissions.

Benji Radach def. Ryan McGivern via TKO at 2:22 of round 2

good comback fight for Radach as McGivern dominated the begginnings of the fight with punches, but in the end Radach caught him and finsihed him off.

Chris Horodecki def. Bart Palaszewski via split decision

I thought Chris would come out winning this match, but Bart owned alot of the fight and could have finished the fight a couple of times, but Chris kept intentionally falling out of the ring so the ref would restart them. Controversial match because Chris gets the decision.

Mike Ciesnolevicz def. Alex Schoenauer via split decision.Los Angeles Anacondas win 3-2

Pretty back and forth with no big damage. They just got tired and gassed out.

Matt Lindland def. Carlos Newton via guillotine choke at 1:43 of round 2

Lindland owned Carlos like Crazy. Newton did absolutely nothing at all to defend. I couldn’t beleive what I was watching. Not that I though that Lindland would kill him, but not in that way.
